Hannah Wilson is a recognised corporate partner trusted by New Zealand’s leading organisations on their most significant and complex transactions. With deep expertise across M&A, strategic alliances, joint ventures, and major commercial arrangements, Hannah brings clarity, commercial judgement, and calm execution to high stakes deals. Clients value her ability to negotiate outcomes that work in practice, while building relationships that endure well beyond completion.

Hannah advises both public and private sector clients, including offshore investors, across a broad range of industries. She has particular strength on sell-side mandates and cross-border transactions, drawing on her international experience and pragmatic approach to execution. Having returned to New Zealand to join the partnership at Russell McVeagh after an extended period at global law firm Hogan Lovells, Hannah combines international perspective with deep local market knowledge.

Hannah also co-heads the firm's ESG Governance practice.

Hannah's recent experience includes advising:

1. Automative, logistics and transport:

  • QIC Private Capital on the acquisition of a 50 percent interest in Vector Limited’s Australian and New Zealand metering business.
  • Rexel SA, a French listed multichannel electrical distributor, on the sale of Ideal Electrical.
  • Ford Motor Company on its strategic alliance with Volkswagen for vehicle development and shared investment in innovation and technology, including leading negotiations on key strategic issues.
  • Daimler AG on its investments in the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team, and on UK aspects of its global corporate restructuring to separate its car and van business from its truck and bus business.
  • OEMs in relation to their New Zealand business, including dealer arrangements and distribution models.
  • Clients on large RFP projects for the procurement of logistics and transport arrangements in New Zealand.

2. Energy:

  • Genesis Energy on the corporate aspects of its joint venture with FRV Australia to develop solar farms as part of Genesis Energy’s Future Gen strategy to deliver 2,650 GWh of new renewable generation by 2030.
  • Genesis Energy on its securities offering and NZX listing under the Government’s Mixed Ownership Model process.
  • An electricity lines company in negotiating and drafting connection agreements with large customers.
