The Legal 500 has today released its 2020 rankings for the Asia Pacific region, which puts Russell McVeagh in the strongest possible position in a number of practice areas and has seen much of the firm's emerging talent recognised for the first time.

Russell McVeagh has again achieved the highest attainable ranking for Corporate and M&A, Banking and Finance, Dispute Resolution, Tax, and Competition Law. Notably, the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) and Restructuring and Insolvency practice groups moved up to the top band this year. The firm also improved its rankings for Transport, Intellectual Property, and Insurance.

A special congratulations to those who received 'Leading Individual' rankings for the first time in their respective fields, including John Powell (Banking and Finance), Joe Windmeyer (Corporate and M&A), Malcolm Crotty (Dispute Resolution), Joe Edwards (Intellectual Property) and Polly Pope (Real Estate and Construction, and Restructuring and Insolvency). Mei Fern Johnson, who is already recognised as a Leading Individual for TMT, this year received the same ranking in Corporate and M&A.

Several of the firm's talented lawyers were also recognised as 'Next Generation Partners' this year, including David Weavers (Banking and Finance), Ben Paterson (Corporate and M&A), Chris Curran (Dispute Resolution), Marika Eastwick-Field (Dispute Resolution) and Liz Blythe (TMT).

Simon Pilkinton gained a 'Rising Star' ranking this year for his expertise in Projects and Resource Management.

A number of Russell McVeagh's lawyers also maintained their 'Leading Individual' title in their respective fields, including Deemple Budhia (Banking and Finance), Guy Lethbridge (Banking and Finance), Troy Pilkington (Competition Law), David Hoare (Corporate and M&A), Dan Jones (Corporate and M&A), Allison Arthur-Young (Environment and Resource Management), Kylie Dunn (Labour & Employment), Ed Crook (Real Estate and Construction), David Butler (Real Estate and Construction), Matt Kersey (Restructuring and Insolvency), Brendan Brown (Tax), Fred Ward (Tax), and Mei Fern Johnson (Technology, Media and Telecommunications). Anna Crosbie also maintained her 'Next Generation Partner' ranking for Real Estate and Construction.
