Rayhan is a Senior Associate in Russell McVeagh's Litigation team, based in Auckland. He has acted, advised on, and managed a range of complex disputes, including contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, franchise disputes, warranty claims, fraud, misrepresentation and conspiracy claims, property disputes, consumer protection disputes, intellectual property issues, professional misconduct claims, and investigations.
Rayhan has appeared (as sole or junior counsel) at various levels of the New Zealand court system, in specialist tribunals, and in alternative dispute resolution forums. He also has extensive experience as an instructing solicitor in the High Court of England and Wales. He was admitted to practise in 2017.
Rayhan began his career at Russell McVeagh in 2017 and spent time as a Judges' Clerk in the Auckland High Court. He then worked at the independent bar as a junior barrister to Shortland Chambers. Following the completion of his postgraduate study in 2023, Rayhan joined Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan in London, where he worked on some of the largest matters progressing through the English courts. Rayhan returned to Russell McVeagh in 2026.
Rayhan holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of California, Berkeley (which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar and a Spencer Mason Scholar), and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (History and Politics) degrees from the University of Auckland. He has published articles on a range of legal issues in various New Zealand and international law journals.
Rayhan serves on the Advisory Board of the Equal Justice Project, a student-led pro bono organisation based at Auckland Law School. He was previously a board member of the Auckland Community Law Centre and of Multiethnic Young Leaders NZ.
