Andy is a senior associate in our Real Estate and Construction team, specialising in major energy, renewables, industrial and infrastructure projects.  He acts for developers, government agencies and lenders across the full project lifecycle. 

Andy advises on strategy, tendering and procurement through to contract drafting, negotiation and dispute resolution, with particular expertise in construction and project agreements.

Andy spent five years at leading US and magic circle firms in London before returning to New Zealand. He regularly acts on complex project finance transactions and has advised on upwards of NZ$60 billion worth of market-leading projects across New Zealand, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Pacific.

Andy's recent work includes advising:

• Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited in relation to several major developments, refurbishments and decarbonisation initiatives for its milk product processing plants around New Zealand, including the construction of a new electrode boiler at its Edendale plant, for which Fonterra won the ‘Large Energy User Initiative of the Year’ award at the 2025 New Zealand Energy Excellence Awards.
• Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora on:
  • its regional hospital development programme including the redevelopment of the Christchurch hospital and the new Dunedin hospital project; and
  • its procurement of a ‘National Panel of Major Project Delivery Partners’ to support the delivery of Health NZ’s infrastructure pipeline.
• Lodestone Energy on:
  • joint venture arrangements with Centralines Limited and advising on key project documents in respect of a 34 MW solar farm to be constructed in central Hawke's Bay;
  • conducting vendor due diligence in relation to a $50m capital raise to fund a series of solar farm developments across New Zealand (along with specific project development contract advice); and
  • the project financing of a 27.7 MW solar farm in Clandeboye. with financial close achieved in early June 2025.
• Auckland Airport in relation to several aspects of its multi-billion-dollar Terminal Integration Programme including various enabling packages, a new domestic jet terminal and the installation of a purpose-built integrated baggage handling system.
