We have been made aware that fraudulent emails are circulating, falsely claiming to be from our law firm on behalf of Westpac and referencing a copyright infringement. These emails allege unauthorised use of copyrighted content and demand a response.

Any links in these emails may direct recipients to a malicious website that could compromise the security of your systems and data. If you receive such an email, we strongly recommend that you do not click on any links or open any attachments.
Key points always worth noting:
- Check the sender’s email address. Genuine emails from us will always come from our official domain: @russellmcveagh.com.
- Be cautious with unexpected messages, especially those urging you to click a link or download a file.
If you believe you may have been affected by a scam and your organisation has an IT team, we suggest you let them know as soon as possible. If you do not have access to IT support, we suggest you consider changing any potentially affected passwords immediately, particularly if they have been reused elsewhere, and you could consider running a reputable malware or antivirus scan on your device. You may also wish to seek assistance from organisations such as the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the New Zealand Police or Netsafe.
