Michelle Mau is a Senior Associate in Russell McVeagh's Litigation team. She has a broad practice, advising on a number of high value commercial disputes for leading businesses across New Zealand. In particular, Michelle has expertise and substantial experience advising on construction disputes, property and leasing disputes, insolvency, and health and safety. Michelle joined Russell McVeagh in 2013.
Michelle acts on a range of high-stakes disputes for commercial parties on a broad range of matters. Her experience includes:
Construction and Project Disputes: Michelle has acted in a number of confidential arbitrations and adjudications under construction contracts, and in negligence and tort claims. She has been involved in multi-party leaky building claims and has substantial experience working with construction experts.
Property Disputes: Michelle advises on a number of property and leasing disputes, including in relation to body corporate rules and seismic strengthening obligations.
Insolvency and Restructuring: Michelle acts for receivers, liquidators, voluntary administrators, and creditors. She has recently acted for the receivers of the Orange H group of companies.
Health and Safety: Michelle has advised on and defended a number of health and safety prosecutions. She has also recently advised on an enforceable undertaking application.
