Bevan has a broad financing practice. He has extensive experience advising international and domestic financial institutions, corporate borrowers and sponsors on a wide range of complex and strategic transactions including: corporate lending, acquisition/leveraged finance, project finance (including Public Private Partnerships), development finance, refinancing and restructuring. His experience covers a number of industries, with particular expertise in the infrastructure and energy sectors.

Experience

Bevan's experience includes advising:

  • Bank of New Zealand as sole arranger and lender for the Schools III PPP project.
  • Oceania Healthcare on the refinancing of its loan facilities in connection with its IPO.
  • Agria Corporation on new secured loan facilities.
  • The senior lenders on the refinancing of loan facilities for the BJ Ball business (including financing for an acquisition).
  • The senior lender on the New Zealand law aspects of the financing for the Hawaiki submarine cable project.
  • The lender and arranger on the refinancing of term and revolving loan facilities for Vitaco Health.
  • The senior lender on term loan and equipment financing facilities for the acquisition by BT Mining of coal mine assets from the administrators of Solid Energy.
  • A FTSE listed upstream oil and gas company on all aspects of its debt raising programme including syndicated credit facilities, acquisition facilities, EMTN programme, letter of credit facilities, US private placements and derivatives.
  • The lenders (including European Investment Bank, bondholders and commercial banks) to the Connect Roads Consortium on the financing of the Aberdeen West Peripheral Motorway PPP.
  • The lenders (including European Investment Bank, insurance funds and a commercial bank) on the financing of a healthcare PPP in Ireland.
  • The lenders on the financing and refinancing of university student accommodation developments.

Professional

Bevan began his career at Russell McVeagh and returned to the firm in 2017 after spending over eight years in London. During his time overseas, Bevan practised in the financing team at Slaughter and May and in the international project finance team at Norton Rose Fulbright LLP. He was named Lawyer of the Year by the Best Lawyers® 2024 Guide for Project Finance and Development Practice.
