The Board of Russell McVeagh is pleased to announce the appointment of Ben McLaren as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 December 2025.
Ben succeeds Jo Avenell, who will be leaving the firm after seven years of exceptional service and leadership. Jo has led Russell McVeagh through a period of significant growth, disruption and transformation. Her leadership has been marked by a clear strategic vision and a deep commitment to the firm’s culture and values. We thank Jo for her outstanding contribution and wish her all the best for the future.
Ben brings over 16 years of large law firm management experience in New Zealand and Australia, including six years as Russell McVeagh’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, and has a deep understanding of the law firm business and the dynamics of legal practice.
