Gordon is a senior associate in Russell McVeagh's Litigation practice. Based in our Auckland office, Gordon specialises in commercial litigation, with a particular focus on insurance, construction, property and contractual disputes. 
Gordon appears for clients in court and in arbitrations, acts for clients in regulatory investigations, and regularly advises clients on contractual issues, statutory and regulatory compliance, and the prevention of disputes.


His recent work includes:

  • acting for Lendlease Capital Services Pty Ltd in High Court proceedings, including appearing in contested interlocutory applications Lendlease Capital Services Pty Limited v Arena Living Holdings Limited [2021] NZCA 386;
  • advising a financial services client in relation to an inquiry from the FMA;
  • acting for a commercial landlord in High Court proceedings arising from a breach of warranty claim;
  • acting for a national retailer on a variety of disputes arising out of leasing and development arrangements;
  • acting for a telecommunications client in High Court proceedings arising from a leasing dispute;  
  • acting for the plaintiff in class action proceedings concerning a building product liability claim;
  • advising various institutional landlords regarding their obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act and their various leasing and other contractual arrangements in relation to earthquake-prone buildings; and
  • assisting clients with contentious insurance claims, including claims under material damage and warranty and indemnity policies.

Gordon began his career at McCarthy Tetrault in Vancouver, Canada in 2015. He joined Russell McVeagh in 2018 as a solicitor.
Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2020.

Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Canada in 2016.
