Bronwyn is an environmental law specialist, with expertise in all aspects of resource management and environmental law, as well as public and local government law. She brings considerable knowledge to her role in assisting developers and infrastructure providers obtain all necessary approvals for their projects under the Resource Management Act 1991.

Bronwyn has a particular interest in resource management litigation. She has extensive experience before the Environment Court and has also appeared in the higher appellate Courts a number of times, including the Supreme Court of New Zealand.


Having acted for both corporate interests and local authorities, Bronwyn’s extensive experience in environment and resource management law enables her to deliver positive results for her clients, particularly when matters go before the courts.

Bronwyn’s experience includes:

  • New Zealand International Convention Centre – obtaining consent for this significant development in Auckland's CBD on a non-notified basis.
  • Central Interceptor, Northern Interceptor and North Harbour No.2 Watermain – obtaining all necessary approvals for three major water and wastewater infrastructure projects required to service the anticipated growth of Auckland.
  • Vinegar Lane – obtaining consent for a mixed-use development planned around ‘collective individuality', enabling purchasers to design buildings after consent was obtained.
  • Wynyard Quarter – rezoning the former industrial land on Auckland's waterfront to enable urban regeneration, and obtaining consent for a number of civic projects including the Marine Event Centre, the lifting bridge connecting the area to the CBD, and public space upgrades.
  • Litigation – a large number of appearances in the Environment Court, and on appeal in the High Court, on resource consent applications and district plan provisions, as well as appearances in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in judicial review proceedings challenging decisions made by local authorities.

Bronwyn was admitted to practise in New Zealand in 2000. Prior to joining Russell McVeagh in 2011, Bronwyn spent 11 years at a major New Zealand law firm, acting for local authorities primarily in the Auckland region.

Bronwyn is a member of the editorial committee for the Resource Management Law Association Journal and a regular contributor of articles. She also contributes the case law updates to the Association's monthly newsletter, and has presented national roadshows both for the Association and the New Zealand Law Society on case law updates.

Bronwyn is also a member of the Environmental Law Committee of the New Zealand Law Society and is recognised as a preeminent lawyer for Environment and Resource Mangement by Doyles Guide 2018.
