Profile

Bridgette White is a Senior Associate in Russell McVeagh's Litigation team. Her experience spans a range of matters, including regulatory litigation and advice, contractual and company law disputes, fair trading claims, judicial review and financial markets litigation.

Before joining Russell McVeagh in 2019, Bridgette was a Senior Associate at another New Zealand law firm, where she specialised in litigation and dispute resolution and worked on matters involving the Serious Fraud Office and other white-collar criminal investigations.

Experience

Bridgette's recent experience includes:

  • Acting for a large New Zealand company on a Serious Fraud Office investigation.
  • Acting for Zespri Group in a judicial review about collaborative marketing (Splice Fruit Ltd v New Zealand Kiwifruit Board [2016] NZAR 680).
  • Acting for and advising banks, companies, liquidators and receivers with respect to creditors’ claims, breaches of directors’ duties, inter-company loans, Personal Property Securities Act 1999 and other insolvency issues (for example Perpetual Trust Limited v Bank of New Zealand & Dorchester Finance Limited [2013] NZHC 1800).
  • Acting for a group of plaintiffs in a $9m claim against an insurer for the wrongful rejection of their claims based on various exclusion clauses contained in the policies.
  • Acting for a large, international construction company in a $72m Construction Contracts Act 2004 dispute.
  • Acting for a bank in respect of a $300m claim against it by a large finance company for knowing receipt of profits.
  • Acting for Active Manuka Honey Association on a contractual dispute with an association member and protection of marks and names (Watson and Sons Ltd v Active Manuka Honey Association [2008] NZCA 566).
