The 2015 NZ Lawyer magazine ‘Hot List’ issue is out this week, and it features two litigation partners from Russell McVeagh’s Wellington office!
The ‘Hot List’ is a showcase of the breadth and depth of New Zealand legal talent. It highlights lawyers who are making a mark on the profession through their work, leadership or community involvement.
Russell McVeagh Wellington partner Dr Andrew Butler features in this year’s list as a ‘Pillar of the Community’.
NZ Lawyer states: “Active in the local community and the global legal community, Butler chairs Russell McVeagh’s ethics and pro bono committees and is active in pro bono law. He is an expert on human rights and constitutional law.”
One of the firm’s latest partners, Chris Curran, also made the list in the landmark achievements category. A litigator in the firm’s Wellington office, Chris is cited as a part of the team advising Credit Suisse on its successful defence of a $200m representative action regarding the 2004 IPO of Feltex, and his involvement in mentoring and firm management.
“The matter represented a unique moment in New Zealand class action litigation... Curran serves on Russell McVeagh’s social and mental block committees... he is frequently involved in mentoring younger lawyers and assisting with the firm’s recruitment programme.”
Congratulations to both Andrew and Chris for their inclusion in this year’s ‘Hot List’!
