Ian Beaumont specialises in capital markets, M&A and general corporate advisory work, and was promoted to the Russell McVeagh partnership on 1 December 2016.
Ian grew up in Wellington, where he attended Scots College, before studying Commerce (Economics and Finance) and Law at Otago. He started at Russell McVeagh as a school scholar and summer clerked in 2006/07, and begun work as a graduate in 2008 in the firm’s Corporate Advisory Group. In 2012, he moved to the New York office of Skadden, where he practised in the Corporate Finance team. Ian returned to Russell McVeagh in October 2015.
Ian’s appointment to partnership further enhances the National Corporate Advisory Group’s capital markets and M&A offerings. Ian, reflecting on his appointment said, “I’ve been lucky enough to have spent my career to date working for and around exceptionally talented people, on exciting and challenging transactions, and for clients that I believe in. I’m hugely excited to move into this next phase of the journey at Russell McVeagh, where I started my career.”
Ian is highly regarded by his clients (including Spark, Auckland Airport, ANZ, Kiwi Property, Meridian and The Warehouse) and has been praised for his pragmatic and commercial advice, as well as for his depth of understanding about his clients’ businesses and the markets in which they operate.
