On the last day of a week dedicated to sustainability for the firm, Russell McVeagh has launched its very first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report. The Report is a key milestone in the firm’s continued commitment to being a sustainable law firm and delivering positive impacts to employees, clients, the environment and our local communities.
Chief Executive Officer Gary McDiarmid says, “We are proud to have launched our first CSR Report, which is the summation of data we've collected to see how we’re tracking on sustainability initiatives. It has been an interesting exercise to help us identify areas we should focus on to improve in this area.
“This will be a continual journey for us and we look forward to being able to track progress annually against our initiatives.”
In 2016, the firm formalised a sustainability action plan driven by four focus areas: Performance monitoring and reporting; Collaboration and engagement; Resource reduction, energy saving and increased recycling; and Adding value in local communities, which have been key areas of concentration for the firm's efforts.
Events across the firm’s ‘Sustainability Week’ have included presentations from Love Food Hate Waste – Community, a staff ‘clothes swap’ and a client panel with Sustainability Managers from BNZ, Auckland Airport, Auckland Council and Watercare invited to share their insights.
