Profile

Rachael is a senior associate in Russell McVeagh's commercial Real Estate practice. She advises New Zealand's most sophisticated property investors and developers, including leading domestic and overseas funds, property institutions, and corporate property owners/occupiers on their most important projects, particularly in relation to market-leading, novel, high-value capital markets transactions, complex and large-scale real estate investments, development projects and green energy. 

Experience

Her recent work includes advising:

  • Precinct Properties on the sale of its remaining half-interest in the ANZ Centre, Auckland for $177 million.
  • Goodman Property Trust on multiple acquisitions, subdivisions and proposed greenfield developments in Auckland.
  • Summerset Group Holdings Limited on multiple acquisitions of land across New Zealand for retirement villages.
  • A global reinsurer on its acquisition of multiple forests in the Gisborne region, including obtaining OIO approval.
  • Electricity generators and distributors on the property rights required to develop solar farms and battery energy storage systems in New Zealand.
  • Kānoa (The Provincial Growth Fund) on government funding in regional areas, including the Whakatane harbour and Whanganui port projects.
  • Pacific Equity Partners on the real estate aspects of M&A transactions in the health and retirement village sector.

LLB (Hons), BA, University of Auckland.
 

Professional

Rachael was admitted to practise in New Zealand in 2014 and is a current member of the Property Council of New Zealand. Prior to joining Russell McVeagh in mid-2020, Rachael most recently spent two years working in the real estate team at Clifford Chance in London and previously also worked in the property team at another New Zealand top-tier law firm.
