Simon joined Russell McVeagh in 2000 and has appeared as counsel in all courts up to the Supreme Court, as well as arbitral and other tribunals. From 2006-2007 he was a senior associate in the litigation practice of Ashurst in London where he acted for a major listed energy company in regulatory proceedings by the Office of Gas & Electricity Markets and a £100 million contractual dispute in the Court of Appeal, the Takeover Appeal Board, a major retail bank in relation to group litigation in relation to alleged mis-selling of financial products and High Court proceedings for a major communications company. Since returning to Russell McVeagh in 2008, Simon has acted for some of New Zealand's largest companies in a wide range of complex commercial litigation, applications for urgent injunctive relief and regulatory investigations and prosecutions.
