He has extensive experience in oil and gas disputes; information technology disputes; and insurance matters (primarily involving commercial, fire and general insurance).
He has been a partner at Russell McVeagh since 2000. He has been with the firm since he was a graduate, with four years working overseas in the litigation departments for Clifford Chance in London and Herbert Smith in Hong Kong.

- Acted for Fay in Chirnside v Fay, a Supreme Court decision delivered in September 2006 about fiduciary obligations between commercial joint venturers.
- Acted for Telecom NZ Ltd in respect of the 2006 Securities Commission investigation into market impacts of the unlawful disclosure of a Cabinet Paper.
- Acted for ExxonMobil in its 2006 High Court proceeding against the Crown for declarations as to ownership of seismic data in respect of the Great South Basin.
- Acted (with James Farmer, QC) for BoPE in Commerce Commission v Bay of Plenty Electricity Ltd, a High Court prosecution under ss 36 and 27 of the Commerce Act heard in 2007.
- Advising on Companies Act Schemes of Arrangement; securities and credit compliance opinions and proceedings; and legislative changes.
- Providing indemnity and liability advice in relation to fire and general, professional indemnity, liability and accident insurance.
