David specialises in all aspects of corporate and commercial transactions, including acquisitions and disposals, outsourcings, joint ventures and a broad range of commercial contracts. more

David has extensive corporate and commercial  experience both in New Zealand and the UK. He rejoined us from major UK law firm Herbert Smith in 2006, after previously working at Russell McVeagh from 1999 to 2001. He was made a Partner at Russell McVeagh in 2007.

  • Acted for Genesis Energy on its arrangements with Vector and NGC Metering to provide advanced meters to Genesis Energy's customers.
  • Acted for Fonterra on the establishment of global DairyTrade, Fonterra's online trading platform.
  • Acted for Fonterra in relation to the outsourcing of its ADM function to HCL Technologies. 
  • Acted for Aviagen on its acquisition of Tegel's breeding facilities.
  • Acted for Flink Ink on the New Zealand aspects of its acquisition of Siegwerk.
  • Acted for TrustPower on the sale of VERs and ERUs.
  • Acted for Lion Nathan on the departure of Brent Marris from Wither Hills.
  • Acted for Crescent Capital Partners on its acquisition of Engineering Plastics.
  • Acted for Lion Nathan on its acquisition of Le Brun.
  • Acted for bidder for EnviroWaste Services Limited. 
  • Acted for Nikko Principal Investments Australia on its acquisition of Esanda FleetPartners from ANZ. 
  • Acted for bidder for Metropolitan Glass. 
  • Acted for Genesis Energy on the formation of its LNG regasification joint venture with Contact Energy. 
  • Acted for Genesis Energy on the renewal of its customer contact centre agreement with SITEL. 
  • Acted for NZI in relation to its sponsorship of the NZ rugby sevens.
